Let’s get started.

  1. Find a healthy pothos stem with a node, the small bump where a leaf meets the stem.
  2. Cut just below a node with clean scissors. Remove leaves that would sit below the waterline.
  3. Place the node in water, keeping the remaining leaves above it. Put the glass in bright, indirect light.
  4. Refresh the water regularly and whenever it looks cloudy. Watch for roots over the following weeks.
  5. Once several roots are a few centimetres long, pot the cutting in moist mix. Keep it lightly moist while it establishes.
Good to know
Pothos is harmful if chewed by pets or children. Keep the cutting and plant out of reach. The 20-minute estimate excludes rooting time.
